Character Elements

Georgia

A) Image:

  • She’s an African American girl, caramel complexion in her 20s
  • Georgia is an introvert who enjoys going to work, school, then coming home 
  • She is extremely book smart & loves to help others 

B) Voice: 

  • She is very soft-spoken and doesn’t participate in conversations unless she’s forceably invited to 
  • Her dialect supports her intelligence 
  • She has a caribbean accent which she tries to hide sometimes when semi code switches

C) Desire: Georgia and her mom are always clashing. She feels unwanted/ unloved in her home. She wants to move out of her mom’s house.

D) Conflict: Whenever she tries to save money, something comes up. Health issues, school, and her relationship get in the way. Georgia feels like she has an ultimatum of working towards her goal or being a “good gf” 

E) Action: Georgia goes ghost on everyone to avoid being guilt tripped into helping them when nobody helps her. Georgia explains herself to the ones closest to her. 

 

Peter

A) Image: 

  • Peter is an African American Male, dark-skinned in his early 30s
  • Peter is an extrovert who enjoys showing off/seeming cool to those around him 
  • Peter is street smart but lacks common sense at times 

B) Voice: 

  • Uses “hood” slang as dialect 
  • Peter is very outspoken and always tries to have the last say 
  • Americanized accent and doesn’t speak “proper” english 

C) Desire: Peter cares about nothing more than protecting his reputation in the hood. He wants his relationship with Georgia to work. He is currently trying to find a place to live. 

D) Conflict: He doesn’t have a real job. His “side hustle” isn’t moving as smooth as he needs it to. Georgia is drifting away from him. 

E) Action: Peter begs Georgia to help him. He fights for her love when he realizes she’s becoming distant. He eventually works on getting a real job.
