Kira walked into the blinding white marbled pillared room of Greek gods department. As she took in the giant portraits of the three main gods, Poseidon, Hades and Zeus, she was amazed by the detail of each painting. She stopped in front of Hades portrait and lifted a hand to touch the painting. “No touching, please.” A deep voice behind her said with a hint of amusement. Kira turned around with a small shout and stared right into the face of Thanatos. Kira knew the stories of how beautiful death was from her co workers and they were right! He was six feet tall and towered over her tiny five foot four stature. She looked at his clothing and felt underdressed; he wore a classic black suit tailored to fit his athletic build with a red tie to add a pop of color. His black leather shoes were polished to perfection and Kira thought she could see herself in them. Kira studied his flawless tanned face that gave the impression he was twenty-three instead of thousands of years old. Someone’s been on vacation Kira thought as she looked into his olive green eyes filled with amusement and knowledge. His hair styled out of his face and looked so soft she wanted to touch. Thanatos’ looks were no match for how he smelled of rain on a spring day. Thanatos was known for enticing people to come with him without a fight, now Kira knew why.
