• Inspiration: Racial Tension/Awareness Through Metaphors

At Lexington and 53rd St, he walked into the E Train and pushed his way through the cluster of bodies who were minding their business by reading and some quietly listening to music on their phones. After the rustling and shuffling of feet, and the air cleared, his eyes were burnt by the color that they saw.  There wasn’t any blend, but a scarce drop of black raisins here or dear that put him in a quandary.  He sat, he gazed, a furious gaze pelting back and forth through the car.  His tongue shivered to utter words that would create his satisfaction, but an unknown force kept holding back his warriors which placed him in a state of bewilderment. His fury was boiling over.

The train reached 7th Ave. He sunk himself in disgrace and shame which appeared that he failed to stand up for his cause.  A grim look lined his faced forcing him to lay his eyes to the lowest point – the floor. He violently kept shaking his head with frustration and grave shame not knowing what to do and making gesticulations with his fingers as though they were conversing with him.  He wanted so badly to relentlessly unleash his wrath upon the scum of the earth as he saw it but was unsuccessful.

His destination arrived – 42st. He walked out of the car with a sense of unfinished business upon his shoulders but did not pursue it.  A sense of heaviness cloaked around his body as he continued to walk out of the car, then suddenly, a vigorous high fueled through his body as he impulsively turned around and lambaste them with fiery darts as the doors slowly closed in front of him.

  • Stranger On The Train

I gaze as I sit besides her on the train. Like a peach her cheeks look slightly fuzzy. I see the fine hairs as the sun shines it’s red-orange hue on her skin. Her even, light tan complexion gives off yellow undertones. The sun compliments her skin as she sits there, clueless of her newest admirer. Her eyes dance as she watches her surroundings. Amused by the performers on the local train, she cracks a slight smile. Covering her mouth she seemed ashamed of the braces I caught a glimpse of as she giggled. I turn, realizing I can see her face completely from the reflection of the window. Her ash blonde brows are groomed, still thick and compliment her slim face well. She wore mascara, making her lashes appear darker than her brows. I glance at her hair; glistening, long and blonde. Her loose curls, disobeying direction as she pushed some of them behind her ear. The action reveals shiny diamond studs in her ears. They match the one on her nose that wielded a tiny stud embedded in her flesh. She turns; I am caught. Seeing her eyes up close, I am amazed as I see the details I’ve missed. The reflection withheld the light brown freckles she that spread across her face, from cheek to cheek. Her eyes, not only green, but flecked with yellow gold. The other side of her face bore a scar through the tail of her brow, small but noticeable. I stare, lost for words.

  • Imagery Prompt #5

Hareomi, wanted to own it, as she stares at her brain’s storm. She believed it was given to her, there was a way of dealing with it in such a way, where she was able to dominate it very well after trails and errors. It was Hareomi’s duty to care for it, just like a mother bird visits her nest and nourishes her babies. Not easy to saturate the satisfying liquids in it, like a person so thirsty all they can think of is water. She loved her own natural grown plants and took pride in it, like a gardener who shows off their garden. But this could have been a problem at the same time for Hareomi because she did not know how to manage her garden. Others would like to give their input and say what she should do in her garden and some are even willing to alter or yank the roots of her crops. Why? No on understands what you posses, like they saying “You never know what you have til its gone.” Although setbacks have been a tough journey, Hareomi never chooses to give up, even if the process is difficult like passing an exam. She’s for it, she’s about it, but sometimes she doesn’t know what it can possibly prefer, like a mother who shops at the market wanting the best food for their child and her hope is that they get to eat it and enjoy it. So many stories about this garden, sometimes it has a life of its own as day falls and night comes. Maintenance is no where easy, but Hareomi rather nourishes it through trial and error than giving up. Once it comes to part, she will embrace all the hard work, like a worker saving up for pension. She will embrace and own it, she will encourage others to put time to their garden and make a lot of emphasis on trimming the garden from time to time because no one likes an uneven field of grass.

Kira walked into the blinding white marbled pillared room of Greek gods department. As she took in the giant portraits of the three main gods, Poseidon, Hades and Zeus, she was amazed by the detail of each painting. She stopped in front of Hades portrait and lifted a hand to touch the painting. “No touching, please.” A deep voice behind her said with a hint of amusement. Kira turned around with a small shout and stared right into the face of Thanatos. Kira knew the stories of how beautiful death was from her co workers and they were right! He was six feet tall and towered over her tiny five foot four stature. She looked at his clothing and felt underdressed; he wore a classic black suit tailored to fit his athletic build with a red tie to add a pop of color. His black leather shoes were polished to perfection and Kira thought she could see herself in them. Kira studied his flawless tanned face that gave the impression he was twenty-three instead of thousands of years old. Someone’s been on vacation Kira thought as she looked into his olive green eyes filled with amusement and knowledge. His hair styled out of his face and looked so soft she wanted to touch. Thanatos’ looks were no match for how he smelled of rain on a spring day. Thanatos was known for enticing people to come with him without a fight, now Kira knew why.
